A massive Edwardian sterling silver punch bowl, hallmarked London 1908 by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co., in the George II style with acanthus capped double scroll handles and cut card strap-work. Presented as the "Inter-Battalion Sports Cup" and inscribed "Presented to the Officers Mess Indian General Service Corps by the Commandant Colonel JF Bowtell-Harris*". 18" (45.8cm) handle to handle, 12 5/8" (32cm) diameter, 10.5" (26.8cm) high, 113.7 troy oz (3536g).
