George III Silver Dinner Plate
A George III silver dinner plate by Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp, hallmarked London 1782. Circular with shaped edge and gadroon border. Engraved with the garter of the Order of the Bath and the Howard family crest for Sir George Howard, a British military officer and politician, and also with family crests and motto "virtus mille scuta" (Virtue is a thousand shields) for Howard-Vyse. 9.5" (24.5cm) diameter, total weight 17.9 ozt (557g).
