An Indian sterling silver bowl, probably Madras (Chennai) c. 1898, with the import mark of George Edward & Sons, Glasgow 1898. The hemispherical body is embossed and chased in high relief with 15 avatars of Vishnu, the pedestal foot is embossed and chased with scenes of village life . 8.5" (21cm) diameter, 5.25" (13.3cm) high, 16.8 troy oz (521g).
