George II Silver Sauce Boat

A massive George II sterling silver sauce boat (or gravy boat) hallmarked London 1758 (maker's mark indistinct). Boat shaped with fluting and gadroon border, cast pedestal base and an acanthus capped flying scroll handle. Engraved with foliate and scroll cartouche. 8.5" (21.6cm) long, capacity is 2 cups (500ml), weight: 24.5 troy oz (763g)
