A large coin silver tea set by James & William Moir, New York c. 1844-1870. Comprising a teapot, sugar bowl, cream jug and waste bowl. Inverted pear-shaped bodies with repousse and chased floral and scroll decoration on anthemion feet. Central cartouches inscribed with script monogram. Height of teapot 9.5" (24.1cm), capacity of teapot is 7 cups (1750ml), 69.2 troy oz (2153g).
