A Victorian sterling silver salver by JB Savory and Sons for the Goldsmiths Alliance, hallmarked London 1883. Shaped circular form with applied bead and shell border, the interior engraved with scrolls, fruit, foliage, and birds, on three ball-and-claw feet. Engraved in the centre with a coat of arms and motto: "Dieu Defend Le Droit" (God defends the right), and engraved on the underside "From JRH to WH 18th July 1884". 12" (30.5cm) diameter, 29.4 troy oz (913g).
