A fine quality late Victorian sterling silver gilt and cut glass biscuit box (or jar) by Carrington & Co, hallmarked London 1890. Oval body on conforming base, the hinged lid chased with scroll and foliage decorations. The pierced stand embossed and chased with cherubs carrying baskets of flowers, on four ball-and-claw feet. 9" (22.8cm) high, 6.75" (17.2cm) wide, weight of base 22.6 troy oz (704g).
