An antique George III silver beer jug by John Scofield, hallmarked London 1773. Baluster shaped with domed lid, with later ornate repousee floral, foliage and scroll decoration throughout, with scroll handle and openwork scroll thumb-piece. Gilt interior. 8 1⁄4" (21cm) high, 30.3 troy oz (941g).
* This piece has been converted to a jug from a tankard (by having the spout added) and the decoration was added at a later date, likely in the mid-19th century.
