Garrard Sterling Silver Serving Dish

A fine heavy Victorian sterling silver serving dish by Robert Garrard II, hallmarked London 1847, with a matched domed lid. Circular shape with lobed body and gadroon border, the lid engraved with the Gilpin family coat of arms and motto "Dictis Factisque Simplex" (Sincere in word and deed). Dish: 11" (27.9cm) diameter, 29.3 troy oz (912g), lid 28.3 troy oz (879g). Height together 7.75" (19.7cm) total weight 57.6 troy oz (1791g).
