A fine quality early Victorian sterling silver christening mug by James Charles Edington, hallmarked for London 1851. With a beautiful repoussé scene depicting a King Charles Spaniel opposite a parrot, on a ground of roses, scrolls and foliage. The interior is gilt. The cartouche is engraved with a monogram HBS in script within a garter with a motto "Non mihi sed Patriae" (Not for myself but for my country). 4" (10.2cm) high, 5.2 ozt (161g).
