Antique Burmese Silver Tea Set

A fine quality antique Burmese silver tea set Rangoon c. 1900 with retail mark for Coombes Company. Oblong shaped teapot with elephant finial, scroll spout and tau shaped handle on four legs. Each piece embossed and chased on all sides with scrolls and foliage surrounding Ramayana scenes (from Burmese folklore) done in very high relief, the spouts chased with ogres. The teapot is 10 3⁄8" (26.3cm) from spout to handle, and the set is exceptionally heavy: total weight 41.3 (1283g).
