Large George IV Silver Monteith Bowl

A large George IV sterling silver Monteith bowl (punch bowl) hallmarked London 1828, with unidentified maker's mark SL over-struck on a previous mark. Traditional form, hemispherical shape on spreading foot with removable rim and lion's mask and ring handles. The body of the bowl is embossed and chased with flowers, scrolls, birds and putti. 13.5" (34.3cm) diameter, 8.75" (22.2cm) high, 96.8 troy oz (3009g).
