An exceptionally fine quality George III sterling silver sauce tureen by Digby Scott & Benjamin Smith II, hallmarked London 1806. (The liner hallmarked London 1807 by Benjamin Smith II). Regency style, hemispherical shaped body on pedestal foot with gadroon borders and applied eagle-form handles. The armorial finial in the form of the Mosley family crest. The tureen and cover engraved with the arms of Sir Oswald Mosely*, with motto "Mos Legem Regit" (Custom regulates the law). The liner engraved with the Mosley family crest. 9" (22.8cm) across the handles, 6.5" (165cm) high, 49.9 troy oz (1551g).
