A fine quality early George II sterling silver salver by John Tuite, hallmarked London 1727. Shaped square, with moulded border and on four scroll feet, the centre engraved with a coat-of-arms*. 10.25" (26.1cm) across, 27.7 troy oz (863g).
*The armorial bearings on this George II salver by are those of Newton impaling Alleyne. These arms undoubtedly commemorate the marriage of John Newton, of the Island of
Barbados and his first wife Elizabeth Alleyne.
