Victorian Sterling Silver Table Snuff Box

An early Victorian sterling silver snuff box hallmarked Birmingham 1843 by John Tongue. Rectangular form with engine turned exterior and convex sides, the top applied with floral and foliage decoration, with gilt interior. The top later-inscribed with a presentation: "Presented By The Officers. NCOfficers. & Privates. Of the 9th Wt Y.R.V. to Major W. Cookson. After 20 Years Service As Adjutent of The Regiment. 30th March 1881". 3.5" (9cm) long, 2.25" (5.7cm) wide 5.2 troy oz (161g).
