William IV Sterling Silver Cake Basket

Fine quality William IV sterling silver cake basket by Charles Fox II, hallmarked London 1830. Shaped circular form on pedestal base with swing handle. Applied with a beautifully defined shell and acanthus border. Engraved with the marital coat of arms and motto "Coelum quid quaerimus ultra" (What do we seek beyond heaven?) of Joseph Godman* and Caroline Smith. 13.4" (34cm) diameter, 11.25" (28.6cm) high  46.6 troy oz (1450g).

*Joseph Godman, Esq. (1791–1874) of Park Hatch, Surrey married Caroline Smith on March 18th, 1830.
