An English sterling silver basket by Gourdel Vales and Co, hallmarked London 1921. Boat shaped on pedestal base, beautifully pierced with scrolls and foliage, with applied scroll border. Monogrammed WCB in script on the side and engraved on the underside "William Christie Barclay/ from employees of Christie Brown Co/ on the occasion of his marriage/ Feb 2nd 1922". 11.5" (29.2cm) long, 6.25" (15.9cm) high, 22.7 troy oz (706g).
