Victorian Sterling Silver Playing Card Box

A fine Victorian sterling silver playing card box by Henry Mathews, hallmarked Birmingham 1899. Rectangular prism with gilt interior, the front and reverse embossed with a depiction of "The Music Lesson"" by Nicolas Lancret, depicting a gentleman playing a lute to two ladies in a formal garden scene. The two sets of miniature playing cards are complete. 3" (7.6cm) x 2 1/8" (5.3cm) x 1.5" (3.8cm), 2.7 troy oz (83g).
